Sharon Pierson, Vice President, Community Medicine and Population Health

Community Medicine and Population Health portfolio programs support and lead the advancement integrated health services from community through to post acute care.  Designed to enhance the patient and family experience, the programs have unique care and service mandates and a  collective  accountability to  enhance transitions across the health continuum.

Sharon is a collaborative and experienced leader and highly committed to the delivery of exemplary care and services. In her previous role as Vice President of Quality and Performance, Sharon led the advancement of Quality and Operational Performance at HHS and was accountable for services including Patient Safety, Quality Improvement, Patient Experience, Pharmacy and Operational Planning. With Sharon’s innovative leadership, HHS’ quality and performance team has collectively demonstrated exceptional skill and expertise resulting in numerous publications and presentations along with multiple provincial and national awards.

As an active member of multiple local, LHIN and provincial committees,  Sharon has had opportunities to contribute to system discussions and policy development. She is a past member of  Ontario’s Excellent Care for All Act Advisory Committee,  a current member of the provincial Access to Care  ER Advisory Committee and co-chair of the HNHB LHIN  Emergency Services Steering Committee.  As a  graduate of  Mohawk College’s  Nursing Diploma program, Sharon was recognized in 2012 with an Alumni of Distinction Award for her career achievements and professional contributions to nursing.  

Sharon also holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from McMaster University; a Masters of Public Administration from Queen’s University and is a graduate of the Rotmans Advanced Health Leadership Program at the University of Toronto.
